People were proud of their precious possession, and the Sunday afternoon family drive was an event in itself. Museum Vreeburg: www.museumvreeburg.nl The 17th-century town farmhouse Vreeburg, fully restored in period style, serves as a regional museum. On the ten West Frisian Thursdays in summer, old crafts are also demonstrated; the upper floor hosts a different exhibition every year. Regional Museum 1940-1945: housed in the right-hand castle tower of Schagen castle, with many objects from the 1940-1945 period, mostly related to Schagen and its surroundings.
